The Town of Denton History Museum is
going through incredible growing pains, and eventually will be located
at the "Snyder House" on Salisbury Street. Until the move, the museum
will be open by appointment only and during special events at Town Hall,
201 W. Salisbury Street.
Below are some pictures, events and
links celebrating our town's history. The pictures have been donated by
our local historian, Barabara Hogan, Denton Orator and our residents
that revel in the colorful and exciting, and sometimes mysterious past
that is the Town of Denton North Carolina.
Duke University Libraries Digital Collections
Back in the 1930's and 1940's a
portrait photgrapher went around to small town's in North Carolina to
film random folks with his movie camera, and then would return to show
these movies to the community as a way to make money (see yourself on
the big screen!). Duke recently digitized these films and posted them on
their website for the public to see. They are mesmerizing! Just average
folks hamming it up for the camera (or looking shy).
H. Lee Waters Film Collection
Recently the art class/club at South
Davidson High School used their talents and creativity to add a little
culture and history to the Town's waste containers. Below are some
pictures of their beauticification project.
