Office of Town Manager

According to North Carolina General Statute 160A-148, the Town Manager is appointed by the Town Board and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Town.

The Town Manager is appointed by the Town Board and is directly in charge of all departments of the local government as well as all personnel, and oversees the day-to-day operation of the Town government. The Manager is also responsible for the development and administration of the Town’s Annual Budget and Capital Improvement Plan and acts as a liaison between the citizens by reporting issues to the Mayor and Town Board. The Town Manager is assisted in his duties by the Town Clerk and the Town Hall Administrative Staff. 
Some of the general duties of the Town Manager are to:

• Assure that laws and ordinances are enforced.
• Appoint and remove department heads and employees on the basis of merit and to exercise control and supervision over all departments.
• Make recommendations to the Town Board concerning the affairs of the Town including plans for short and long-range improvement projects.
• Keep the Council advised about financial conditions and future needs.
• Prepare and submit the annual budget.
• Prepare and submit reports as they may be required by the Board.
• Keep the public informed, through reports to the governing body, of the operations of the Town government.

Our Town Manger is Angel Jenkins. Angel started with the Town of Denton in November 2016 as the Town Clerk and was promoted to Assistant Town Manger/Town Clerk in 2021.
The Board of Commissioners appointed Angel as the Town Manager in September 2022. 
Angel grew up in Thomasville, moving to Albemarle after High School.
She has 2 children and 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, she loves listen to mystery podcasts, crafting, cooking, and fishing with her husband Jack. 

Angel is available Monday – Friday, 8:30-5pm at Town Hall.
