AN ORDINANCE EMPOWERING TOWN MANAGER
TO MANDATE STANDARDS FOR
SOLID WASTE PICK UP

WHEREAS, The State of North Carolina has recently evolved new standards for the collection and disposal of solid waste and mandated that the Town of Denton must comply with these standards; and
WHEREAS, the trend for the future is that the State of North Carolina will continue to evolve and dictate stricter standards for waste control to be enforced in the Town of Denton; and
WHEREAS, to bring the town into compliance with these evolving standards it is necessary for some official of the town to promulgate enforceable standards concerning the solid waste pick up; and
WHEREAS, the Town Manager is best suited by training and experience and opportunity to perform this service; and
WHEREAS, for instance, the Town Manager has determined that requiring local businesses to break down their cardboard boxes and segregate them at their pick up sites would facilitate the pick up of solid waste and its disposal;
IT IS THEREFORE ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS:
That the Town Manager of the Town of Denton is empowered to set forth standards governing the type of solid waste to be picked up by the Town crews and the manner in which the waste shall be delivered to the town, including particularly the right to require cardboard boxes to be handled as set forth above.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage.
