Resolution to Extend the Elective Term of the Mayor of Denton - Resolution 2009-2B

RESOLUTION TO EXTEND THE
ELECTIVE TERM OF THE
MAYOR OF DENTON
RESOLUTION 2009-2B

        WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Denton wishes to have all of the elected officials of the Town serve equal terms, and

        WHEREAS, the mayor of the Town of Denton serves a two year term and the Town Board members serve a four year term, and

        WHEREAS, to have an equal number of offices filled at each election,

        LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Denton seek permission from the State of North Carolina Legislature to amend the Town’s charter to allow for the elective term of the mayor to be four years, and

        LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the term of the mayor be changed to four years with the November 2009 Election.
